Calendar Paint
Automatic colors for Google Calendar. Write a rule like “title contains Gym → green” once, and every matching event stays colored, including every repeat of a recurring event.

What it does
- Colors events by title: contains, starts with, is exactly, regular expressions and more. The first matching rule wins.
- Recurring events stay colored. Coloring one by hand colors the whole series by default.
- Text switches to black or white automatically so it stays readable.
- Open any event to see why it has its color, edit that rule, or keep Google's color for that event.
- No sign-in, no account, no server. Everything runs in your browser.
Common questions
- Colors are not showing.
- Open the Calendar Paint window from the toolbar. The “Calendar Paint Health” panel says whether it is working. If it asks you to, reload your Google Calendar tab once.
- Only some events are colored.
- Rules run top to bottom and the first match wins. Open a rule to see a live preview of the events it matches. The rules list also says when a higher rule wins an event.
- Why does this event have this color?
- Click the event in Google Calendar. Under “Event color” it says which rule, manual color or default decided it, with links to edit the rule or keep Google's color.
- All-day or recurring filters do not match.
- These filters rely on Calendar's English interface. Rules without filters work in every language.
- I want Google's colors back.
- Use the switch at the top of the Calendar Paint window. Google Calendar looks exactly as before.
- Do my colors show on my phone?
- Not yet. Chrome extensions do not run in the Google Calendar mobile apps. Showing your colors on your phone is planned.
- Does it read or send my calendar?
- It reads the event titles Google Calendar already shows, only on calendar.google.com, and only to decide colors. Nothing leaves your browser. See the privacy policy.
